The Renovation Blueprint, Part 3: Design Decisions and Contracts

This is the phase where homeowners start making decisions that affect cost, timeline, and how the renovation actually gets built.

You’re expected to choose layouts, materials, and finishes and sign a contract, often without being shown how those decisions fit together or what needs to be resolved first.

This course walks you through that process.

You’ll learn how to work with design professionals, understand their drawings, evaluate materials beyond appearance, and make selections that support your priorities and budget. You’ll also learn which decisions need to happen first and which need to be coordinated to reduce avoidable backtracking and changes.

For kitchen projects, we’ll work through appliances, layout, cabinetry, countertops, sinks, faucets, and hardware. You’ll learn to consider your daily routines alongside the details homeowners often overlook, from refrigerator door clearance to usable prep space and cabinet finishing details.

You can’t get reliable, detailed pricing while major decisions are still unresolved. But you can understand what drives the cost and use that information to guide your choices from the start.
